Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
ISO certification is official confirmation from an independent accredited body that an organization’s management system meets the requirements of a specific international standard—for example, ISO 9001 for quality or ISO/IEC 27001 for information security. The certificate is issued following an on-site audit and is typically valid for three years.
The price is determined by the complexity of the organization’s operations, the number of employees, the number of sites where operations are conducted, and the selected standard - which is why it is determined on a case-by-case basis after a request is submitted. INCERT prepares a binding quote free of charge based on an online request.
Yes, if the certification body is accredited by a national accreditation body that is a member of the European (EA) and international (IAF) accreditation networks. INCERT is accredited by the Executive Agency “Bulgarian Accreditation Service,” which makes the certificates internationally recognized.
To verify the validity of an ISO certificate issued by INCERT, please visit the “Public Register” section of our website and search for the document by its number, which will immediately show you its current status. For all accredited certificates, we publish real-time data in the international IAF CertSearch database (www.iafcertsearch.org), where certificates issued by accredited bodies worldwide are listed.
The time required to obtain certification varies from case to case and depends primarily on the size of your organization and its level of readiness. Typically, the process takes between one and two months, but if you already have a well-implemented management system and prepared documentation, the process can be significantly expedited. With excellent advance preparation on your part, our team can be as flexible as possible in scheduling audits and successfully complete the certification process in the shortest time possible.
For the fastest search, use the IAF CertSearch global database (www.iafcertsearch.org), which lists only certificates issued under a valid and internationally recognized accreditation. Every accredited certificate must bear the logo of a national accreditation body (e.g., EA BAS, UKAS, DAkkS). You can verify the legitimacy of the certification body by checking the public registry on the official website of the relevant accreditation body.
It all starts with filling out our Certification Application so we can understand the scope of your operations. Then, during the audit, you’ll need to show us the documentation for your management system. We expect to see your policy and objectives, key procedures or a manual, as well as records proving that the system is actually working. Key among these are the report from the internal audit and the minutes of the management review. Of course, there is no one-size-fits-all list—the exact set depends on the standard and your business activities. The goal is not to have a lot of documents, but to demonstrate that you are complying with the rules you have established.
The certificate is valid for three years and requires annual surveillance audits to confirm its validity. In the third year, a recertification audit is conducted, which marks the start of a new three-year cycle.
Yes, ISO standards do not specify a minimum number of employees—the size of the organization affects only the duration and cost of the audit, not the possibility of certification
As a certified organization, you are required to notify us in writing as soon as possible. The procedure depends on the specific change:
- Name change only: The procedure is entirely administrative. You need to notify us; we will check the Commercial Register and reissue your certificate with the new name, without changing its validity period.
- Change of production location: Since the certificate attests to the processes at a specific physical address, the relocation requires an unscheduled on-site audit (which can be combined with an upcoming scheduled surveillance audit). The goal is for the audit team to confirm that the infrastructure meets the standard’s requirements and that the system operates effectively at the new location.
Important: Failure to notify us of a change in the production address renders the certificate invalid for the new location and may result in its temporary suspension.
This does not mean automatic rejection. Our team will identify the nonconformities and give you a specific deadline to take corrective action. The certificate is issued (or maintained) once the nonconformities have been corrected.
The transfer procedure is simple and does not interrupt the validity of your certificate. It is based on a review of the documentation from the previous certification body and does not require an additional on-site audit. The certification body that issued your current certificates is required to assist with the transfer process.
